Oblivion Console Commands Carry Weight

broken image

It's a weight reduction. The game doesn't subtract the weight reduction from the weight you're carrying, but adds it to your Encumbrance instead, which is confusing to say the least. Example 1: You're carrying 200/300 and cast Feather 100. You see 200/400 but it's actually 100/300 (200 weight reduced by 100). Jul 25, 2010 i assume u mean how much weight u can carry. How much weight you can carry before becoming over encumbered is determined by your strength. Player.setAV strength 900. Dont go over 900, you can glitch the game if you do. The reason is that you might want to carry around alot of stuff but not be able to oneshot everything. I often get items upwards around 1000 weight, and if you need to carry that many items you need so much strength that every fight is trivialised into 1-3 hits, which kills the fun a bit. Reasons To Use The Console. The console in Oblivion isn't merely a tool for players to openly cheat, by altering aspects of game-play via the use of commands, but it is primarily intended for ‘modders' – and the developers of the game – to test areas, scripts and other important factors in the game.

Hello! First off, sorry if this is a duplicate thread. Now to the point. I know that god mode makes you able to carry as much as you want, but I'd rather be able to carry around a lot, and be able to die and such. I've tried typing in the console player.setav encumbrance but that doesnt seem to change anything. Does player.setav encumbrance really not work? Can anyone else get it to work?

Encumbrance isn't an attribute in and of itself, so that's why it doesn't work. It's a number that is derived from your strength. (STR*5, IIRC) So, try increasing your strength via the console.

oh I see. In the console commands list on this website it says that it is, along with health, magicka, and fatigue. Thats what got me confused. But it also seems strange that it doesn't give any messages to show that it doesn't work.

Short answer is Yes you can AND No you can't.. Perfectly logical! In the console, the game is paused (not rendering) so you CAN increase Encumbrance and even confirm the new value is set OK. The instant you close the console, though, the game is UNpaused (rendering resumes) and Encumbrance is almost instantly reset! This is because the game is recalculating Encumbrance = 5*Strength every frame to catch Fortify/Drain/Damage Strength effects as they happen.
Either use Fortify Strength to increase Encumbrance, or Overencumber yourself then use Feather to reduce the weight you're carrying. Be careful of Feather, though. The effect appears to show as an Encumbrance increase, but it's not.
Example 2: You're carrying 60/300 and cast Feather 100. You see 60/360 instead of the expected 60/400 and Active Effects says Feather 60! Confused? It's actually 0/300 because the game could only reduce 60 weight BY 60 maximum, so the amount it's Feathered you by isn't 100, but 60! Don't worry, it took me a while to figure it out, too..
The trick is to Overencumber yourself BEFORE using Feather to reduce the weight. That way, you get the FULL benefit of the Feather effect!

Official Downloads[edit]

Five of the official downloads add enough items that they are listed on their own pages:

  • Battlehorn Castle Items: New items added by the Fighter's Stronghold download.
  • Deepscorn Hollow Items: New items added by the Vile Lair download.
  • Dunbarrow Cove Items: New items added by the Thieves Den download.
  • Mehrunes' Razor Items: New items added by the Mehrunes Razor download.

Object ID[edit]

All of the item listing include the item's Object ID (or Form ID), which can be used on the PC version to obtain the item using the PC Console command additem. To add an item to your inventory:

How To Set Carry Weight Skyrim

  1. Open the console with the ` key (the key to the left of the 1 key). The legend of the key varies from country to country. For example, the North European keyboard has a § sign there.
  2. Type: player.additem (ex. player.additem 0004788D 1)
  3. Hit (or )
  4. Close the console by pressing the ` key (or equivalent) again.

It is not necessary to type the zeroes (0) before the natural numbers or letters when adding an item to your inventory.

Oblivion Console Commands Carry Weight Scales

  • The Object ID for gold is 0000000F, so to give yourself 10000 gold the command is player.additem F 10000
  • For items from official downloads, the provided Object IDs all start with 'xx'. The 'xx' needs to be replaced by the number assigned to that download on your computer, which depends upon the number of downloads you are loading and their load order. See In Game Formid for details.
  • For items from official downloads, it is not necessary to enter the first '0' in front of the number which denotes the load order (the 'xx').
